Strasser brothers

Image:Otto-strasser.jpg Image:Gregorstrasser.jpg The Strasser Brothers were Gregor (1892-1934) and Otto Strasser (1897-1974). As members of the Nazi Party, they exhorted Adolf Hitler to instigate a revolution that would be socialist as well as nationalist.
Otto Strasser joined the NSDAP in 1925 and Gregor Strasser joined five years earlier in 1920 and became the leader of the Sturmabteilung (SA).
The two were outspoken opponents of Hitler's increasingly close links to big business and capitalism. Gregor died during the Night of the Long Knives, whilst Otto fled to Austria, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, France, Portugal and then Canada, returning to Germany after the War. The Strasser brothers have been influential on the International Third Position and related European movements with their ideology sometimes referred to as Strasserism.
